The “Design Currents” exhibition opened at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Gold, Silver and Copper Flora collection of lamps, designed by Zanini de Zanine for Slamp, are on display until March 12, 2017.
The exhibition presents the work of three contemporary designers (Zanini de Zanine, Oki Sato and Faye Toogood) who deftly use a mix of handcrafted and industrial materials and techniques to create functional yet deeply expressive objects. The objects look at the links between context and creativity by examining the distinct culture and methods of each designer’s studio. It also reveals how their versatile skills, focus on collaboration, and experimentation with artisanal and manufactured materials help shape our experience of their designs and their surroundings.
Location: Collab Gallery, first floor, Perelman Building (2525 Pennsylvania Ave, Philadelphia)
