Materials, Experimentation and continuous research
Opalflex is a patented and recyclable exclusive material obtained through a blend of technopolymers and glass crystals. This manufacturing gives glass’ brightness to Slamp’s creations, by guaranteeing at the same time infrangibility and versatility. Colour shades obtained through silk-screen printing, make the lamps bright presences, creating a unique atmosphere.
The Digital Print on Lentiflex® creates a particular Morphing effect. This particular digital effect consists in the fluid transformation of different colours in a single shade. Colours are broken up by prisms creating a Fresnel effect and a three-dimensional effect, giving depth to the shade. The obtained visual effect is that of a soft and silky surface that enhances the extraordinary material’s brightness. Looking closely at the surface you can perceive how colour shades are obtained by the combination of the 4 primary colours and not by a flat color.
Slamp applies to its products an innovative and unique LED source patent. The lack of the heat sink is possible thanks to the board’s patent, which provides: - Oriented openings on the semiconductor’s ceramic support for the passage of air flows - Conductive copper tape extended to "plots" over the entire surface in order to increase the dissipation - Patented arrangement of the electronic components over the entire surface in order to increase the dissipation - Invisible ultra-high frequency flickering, which keeps the LED temperature constant - Use of 220V LED modules without transformer
Lentiflex® is a material with a special manufacturing that makes its surface "multifaceted", as if it were made out of many small prisms. Thanks to the overlap of two layers of material with a 0.15° inverse inclination, the Lentiflex®, like water, changes in appearance and color according to different points of observation. The "lining" of the material allows to obtain a "Fresnel" effect that lets the light pass through but at the same time breaks it down, allowing to maximize the bright effect of the low energy or LED halogen bulb, avoiding dazzling and creating iridescent colour shades.
Specifically created for Millebolle, iridescent polarization on a flexible material has been possible for the first time. The metallization technology, takes place with a process that deposits on the material some metal powders that "excited" by the light, reflect all colours of the colour range. The result is an extraordinary effect of iridescence, which varies according to the angle of incidence of the light. Polycarbonate also has a basic anti-scratch and UV resistant treatment which makes it even more durable.
The colour treatment of Slamp’s lamps is entirely made with an innovative digital printing process. Theinks used are high performing, UV-resistant and non-toxic, making them completely GREENGUARD certified under the categories "Indoor Air Quality". The depositing of the ink on the plate is made with a particular angle of incidence that creates a "Pearl" effect, i.e. the material backlighting allows to achieve hypershiny colours. Using this type of printing, the light is not held and seeps, by more than 75% and does not acquire the colour of the lamp.
A specific patent starring Lentiflex®, that in the union of 4 layers placed with a particular angle of rotation, allows to make a "fluid" light. The 4 layers of material are moulded on curved lines and the fresnel effect, obtained by crossing the prisms, decomposes the light inside the shape and reflects it with an angle of incidence which makes it similar to the movement of the water.
This special treatment allows to plate with precious metals (gold, silver and copper) our products, giving them a perfect sheen thanks to the layer of metal which is deposited on the material. The procedure, studied "ad hoc" for the collection Illuminati, consists of immersing the material in a galvanic bath that, once subjected to a flow of direct current allows metals such as gold and copper to be deposited and hanged on the treated surface. The result obtained is a perfectly polished, shiny and precious product.
Thanks to meticulous research on surface finishings applied to flexible materials, the R&D department of Slamp has developed and patented Goldflex®, a noble, durable and brilliant material. On polycarbonate sheets of varying thicknesses a special metallisation is accomplished, made by metal vaporisation that assumes the specific shade of Pantone "Slamp gold", and that remains totally unaltered through all the lamp assembly phases, including cuts, bends and jointing. Slamp is the first company to perform this type of craftsmanship on a thin and flexible surface. The result is a hyper-reflective finish, ideal for amplifying the light and create sophisticated and precious reflections.
A polycarbonate polymer as a base for metallization obtained through vapors of aluminum. This process makes it an innovative material characterized by a perfectly reflecting and mirrored surface. It turns into a mirror also characterized by flexibility, an essential quality featured in all the Slamp’s sheet materials.
Copperflex® is a patented material that, together with Goldflex® and Steelflex®, are part of Slamp’s metallised polycarbonates family. As a result of research on surface finishings applied to flexible sheets, the company’s R & D department has for the first time ever been able to craft a malleable polycarbonate perfectly vaporised with copper powder. This type of processing allows the coloration to fully cover the surface and be resistant to any type of workmanship, including bending, cutting and jointing. The result is a warm and bright tonality, perfect to add magic to the design of the Slamp collections and ideal to permit designers to create new elegant and sophisticated icons.
The materials used in the manufacturing of our products are completely recyclable and reusable. The process of cold industrial manufacturing, allows not to emit harmful substances but only water vapor in 20% of cases. Furthermore, the materials subjected to the maximum thermal stresses do not emit toxins. The product can be washed and it is shock resistant, ensuring an excellent longevity. All the raw materials used by Slamp (from technopolymers to packing cartons) are used according to the international standards of environmental protection.
